The Balinese "Tree of Life": The Versatility of Coconut
Known as "Pohon Kehidupan" or the Tree of Life, the coconut palm (Cocos nucifera) is an essential part of Balinese cuisine and culture. Every part of the tree serves a purpose, from the strong wood used in construction to the leaves woven into intricate offerings.
In the kitchen, the sweet water provides a refreshing drink, while the rich, white flesh is grated to make creamy santan (coconut milk) for curries and desserts. High in electrolytes and healthy fats, the coconut offers wonderful health benefits for the whole family.
At our resort, we honor this versatile fruit by growing it in our own organic garden, providing fresh, natural ingredients for our farm-to-table meals. We invite you and your family to experience the rich flavors and traditions that make the coconut so central to life on this magical island.
