More than just a source of natural sweetness, sugar cane holds a sacred place in Balinese Hindu ceremonies. In traditional rituals, the stalks are often used as an offering, symbolizing prosperity, growth, and the bounty of the earth. In fact, it is a key component in ceremonies, often tied to a vehicle for wedding processions to signify the future family's growth and fertility.

The cultivation of sugar cane in Bali is a testament to the island’s ancient connection to nature. The stalks are a popular snack, and their sweet juice is a refreshing drink enjoyed across the island. Rich in antioxidants and minerals, sugar cane juice is a natural energy booster and a delightful way to cool down in the tropical heat.

At our jungle resort in Ubud, we embrace this tradition by growing our own sugar cane as part of our farm-to-table philosophy.
