The Hairy Fruit with a Sweet Heart

As you explore the vibrant landscapes of our jungle resort, you might spot a tree with bunches of bright red, spiky-looking fruit. This is the rambutan, a classic tropical fruit beloved across Southeast Asia. Its name comes from the Indonesian word rambut, meaning "hair," a nod to its unique spiky exterior. But don't let its appearance fool you—inside this prickly shell is a sweet, translucent, juicy flesh with a flavor reminiscent of lychee and grapes.

The rambutan tree, or Nephelium lappaceum, thrives in the humid, tropical climate of Bali. Beyond being a refreshing and delicious snack, the fruit offers a range of health benefits. It is an excellent source of Vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant that boosts the immune system and helps the body absorb iron. The fruit also contains a good amount of fiber, which promotes healthy digestion, and is rich in minerals like iron and copper, essential for blood health.

At our Ubud jungle resort, our farm-to-table philosophy means we are able to share this and other natural bounties with you. We invite you to experience the authentic flavors of Bali, from the fresh rambutans picked from our garden to the carefully crafted dishes in our restaurant. Enjoy the simple pleasures of nature and the serene beauty of your surroundings.
