Star Fruit

The Star of Our Ubud Garden

Wandering through the grounds of our Ubud jungle resort, you’ll discover a plant that produces one of the most visually captivating fruits in the tropics: the star fruit, or Averrhoa carambola. When sliced, this sweet-and-sour fruit reveals a perfect five-point star, making it a natural garnish for salads, cocktails, and fruit platters. In Bali, this fruit is known as belimbing, and its leaves are even used to create a special type of lawar, a traditional Balinese dish.

Beyond its stunning appearance and culinary versatility, the star fruit is a powerhouse of nutrition. It is rich in Vitamin C, which is essential for a strong immune system, and packed with antioxidants that help protect the body from free radical damage. Its high fiber content also aids in digestion and can help regulate blood sugar.

As part of our farm-to-table philosophy, we cultivate star fruit in our organic garden, allowing us to serve you the freshest produce possible. This direct connection to the land is a core part of our mission, giving you a true taste of Bali and a deeper appreciation for the bounty of our tropical environment. We invite you to explore the gardens and enjoy the simple, natural beauty that surrounds you.
